Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday or "Miyerkules ng Abo" is a holy day of obligation to all Catholics around the world: marks the start of the Lenten season (Kwaresma) 46 days before Easter Sunday.

Ash Wednesday is a practice of placing ashes on the foreheads as a reminder that "we are dust and unto dust we shall return"...  it is a sign of mourning and repentance to God.
