On the Spotlight: Meet the Sanrio Characters - Part 1♥

One of the most read entries here in my blog is the Sanrio characters we miss...  As I have said on my previous blog entry, I've been a Sanrio fan since my grade school days.  This time I would like to feature the other Sanrio characters that you don't regularly see anymore.  So the Gen Z's will be have an idea that these characters exist.  Previously I featured: Tiny Poem and Zashikibuta.  Now let's give the   spotlight to these second batch of Sanrio Characters.

Tuxedo Sam タキシードサム, Takishīdosamu  (real name: Tuxedo Orville Samuel)

He is a boy penguin, who is clumsy and loves food.  This blue penguin with sailor hat and a bow tie was born in May 12th.  He has a great fashion sense and owns 365 bow ties.  He loves shrimps and sardines.  He was created in 1979 by Yumiko Chiba.

Keroppi (けろけろけろっぴ, Kerokerokeroppi)

This frog with big eyes and V mouth was created in 1988 created by Tomoe Iwata.  He is also known as Kero kero keroppi, born in July 10th.  He lives in a house at the edge of the Donut pond.  For those who does not know he was born in triplets to Keroma and Keroppa.  His siblings were Pikki (triplet sister) and Koroppi (triplet brother). He loves  playing with boomerang, baseball and of course swimming.

Badtz Maru  (バッドばつ丸, Baddo Batsu Maru)

This spikey haired male penguin was born in April 1st in Oahu, Hawaii.  He was an American descent and Gorgeous Town was his hometown.  He was created by Hisato Inoue in 1993.  Badtz Maru is known for his different facial expressions and poses: his signature expression was pulling one eye down and sticking out his tongue.  He dreams of becoming "the boss of everything" and loves collecting photos of character actors,  

Pochacco (ポチャッコ, Pochakko)

Created in 1989 by Minoru Onoue.  This male white dog with black floppy ears and no visible mouth loves eating banana ice cream.  He was born in February 29th (leap year) in Brazil (Nightingale Lance).  This sporty and playful boy loves basketball, soccer, skateboarding and riding his motorscooter,  Even though he was born in Brazil, he considers New York City his hometown.
