Let's talk about Menopause♥

source: shutterstock

Yes, you read this right.  I want to share about my menopause journey.  Before people or women in particular are really not open in talking about this.  But now I feel people are more open to talk about anything (especially menopause, let's admit this will happen to every woman whether we like it or not).   I admit I transitioned to menopause early... Just a little background: I have a normal cycle (regular period) and I did not experience severe abdominal/menstrual cramps (all are tolerable).   I am on my early 40's when I started to have heavy flows, irregular periods.  To me, it's not normal.  Honestly, I never thought that I am experiencing perimenopause that time.  I felt I was too young.  I decided see an OB-Gyne because I was afraid that I might have hormonal imbalance like my sister.  I did the blood works.. and yes the results are quite above the limits.  But the doctor told me that to be considered that you are on menopause - you should have no menstrual period for one (1) year.  She asked me if I am open to HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), I declined.. it's my personal choice because menopause happens to every women so might as well embrace it.

Honestly, at first I was in denial... but later on I tried to accept it.

One year after my last period:  I went back to the doctor, yes it was confirmed.  I asked her, why am I too young to be in menopause.  She asked me if my mother had her menopause early because it also has something to do with the genetics.  In a way, it's hereditary.

The Symptoms:  Menopause symptoms differ from one woman to another.. Here are the common Menopause Symptoms.

source: One Woman Health

According to One Health Woman , 80% of women will experience menopausal symptoms.  The most common were night sweats and hot flushes.  Because of our declining levels of oestrogen we experience these symptoms.

I experienced tender breasts during the first few months of my perimenopause but luckily now I  don't anymore.  Almost all of the symptoms on the photo card posted I have experienced already.  That's why I try my best to change my lifestyle: by eating healthy (more veggies), exercise and move more to at least counter these symptoms.  And since our oestrogen levels starts to decline, women are more prone to heart disease.

Weight gain - I admit this came into me.. so bad.  Even if I don't eat that much, exercise, walk.. still I am gaining weight especially on the abdominal area.  Yes I know it also comes with age...  but honestly it's really very hard to accept.

Bloating - When your hormones fluctuates our bodies retain excess water.  So even if you have not eaten anything, we feel bloated.  Stress and fatigue also cause bloating.

Anxiety and Depression - During the pandemic this hit me.  I think the symptoms added with our pandemic experience.  But that time, I am completely aware that I am having anxiety attacks... I prayed ,meditated  and talked to my sister and cousin.

Joint Pains - OMG!  This is unbearable.. now I have to apply medicated or essential oils more often than before.  I wear socks when I sleep (my mom does this, now I understand).  I do stretching, to lessen the pain and have fully body massage every 2 weeks.

Irritability - Test of patience... and yes I am guilty.  Before I have tons of patience, now I easily get irritated.

These are some of the symptoms that I have experienced aside from the most common ones like hot flushes, night sweats, insomia, digestive problems, dizziness and etc.

Menopause is not easy because it's a big change physically, mentally and emotionally for many woman, and it's important to give ourselves some time to process this changes.  But one of the best things to do is to talk to someone.  I talk to my sister, friends and ask them their experiences, this also helped me to cope with my own.  It made me aware that I am not the only one experiencing these things.

Mochi's SM Megamall Mega Pup Star journey♥

I cannot wait to share this!  Another milestone has been added to my little "bulilit's" doggie life.  Last year he was also chosen to be a part of the 50 most InPawential Dogs organized by Zoetis Pet Care to celebrate the first Anniversary of Simparica Trio here in the Philippines.  This year SM naman! (*wink)

Here's the story:

Last June 22, 2023, I received a direct message on Instagram from SM Megamall inviting Mochi to join their Mega Pup Star contest.  The winner will be featured in their 3D Led Billboard in EDSA plus P50,000.00 worth of SM Gift Certificates.  All you have to do is to take a photo of the dog in front of the SM Mega Mall's EDSA LED located at the Time Man Sculpture, upload it to either Instagram or Facebook, and tell them : Why your dog deserves to be in the SM Megamall's big screen.  Fur mum's heart is super happy!  Of course it means they noticed that Mochi has the potential. (*wink!)  Who would not want to see his/her fur baby in a billboard, right?  But the contest is about to end, because the last day of submission of entries was June 30 and we only have a week to do it.

June 28, 2023 : Since it's a holiday, I decided to do the photoshoot.  So we went to Megamall and arrived there at around 10:45am.  It was scorching hot when we went outside.  Honestly, I was in the brink of not pushing through with the pictorial, because Mochi's health is always the priority.  We placed the stroller on the spot that we chose, then I carried Mochi as we waited for the "Casting Call / Mega Pup Star Ad" to come out.  We waited a couple of minutes and when the Ad came out I hurriedly placed Mochi in the stroller.  He was a professional, even though it's hot, he started smiling as I took the photos.  I just did a couple of snaps, it's not the best I know and I am only using my mobile phone.  Based from my experience it's hard to capture the ad because it's moving.  It took us about 45 minutes in doing it (waiting for the ad to show included).  After that we went inside the mall and gave Mochi cold water right away.  That same day I uploaded our entry.  No expectations... .

Fast forward to July 4, 2023: At around 5:19pm I received a direct message again from SM Megamall informing me that Mochi was chosen as one of the Top 10 semi-finalists.  I was shocked, speechless... and of course happy!  All semi finalists have a week to ask family and friends to like or react to the photo and those who will incur the highest number will advance to the Top 3.  My reaction - Whaaat?! If I only knew (voting thru likes and reactions) about this I will pass on this.  The full mechanics was released by SM one day before the deadline.  But we've come this far... might as well do our best in promoting Mochi.  Family, relatives and friends started liking, reacting and sharing Mochi's photo entry.  First day we are in number 2 spot.  As days go by, our ranking started to decline, but we never gave up.  Shared it to several groups, friends of friends and even office mates.  Then this happened... I never expected that a supposed to be a fun and happy contest will result to bullying and harassment of some people (or fur parents whose dogs did not make it to the Top 10).  It was disappointing.  Someone even said that Mochi did not follow the instruction.  Well maybe he or she did not understand what "in front of the SM Mega Mall's EDSA LED located at the Time Man Sculpture".  (He/She took that literally.)  I realized that we could not please everybody.  Yes, I know that in every fur parents eyes their dog is the best, cutest, beautiful, adorable and the most deserving.  But I hope they will not take that against those who were chosen.  It's not the dog owner's fault.  And these people who were bashing are using dummy accounts.

July 9, 2023 : Last day of voting... Mochi is on rank 5. I was,  okay.. Maybe this is not for us.  I always believe that if it's your destiny and timing is right the stars will align for you.  Yes, I conceded early.  haha...  I started posting screenshots of his likers and reactors...  thanking them...

July 10, 2023 : Mochi finished at number 5.   Final likes and reactions that Mochi got 10,000+ likes.  This is Mochi's first time to join a big contest like this and I am very overwhelmed with the support he got from everybody, especially from those who we do not know personally but believed that he deserves to be in the 3D Led billboard of  SM Megamall..  He may not have made it the Top 3 but I am very happy that he was a part of the Top 10.  From 100+ who joined the contest it's a great achievement to be part of the semi finalists.

He may not be SM Megamall's Mega Pup Star, but for me and our family - He will always be our Little Superstar!♥  We are so proud of you Mochi!♥♥♥

Review: Dream Focus Foundation by Vice Cosmetics♥

Here is another make up foundation review.  I bought this Dream Focus foundation by Vice Cosmetics from their Endlezz G Collection before I got the BLK Life Proof serum foundation.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use it right away because I forgot about it. When I was spring cleaning my closet I found it still inside the Watsons paper bag.

I just started using this product two weeks ago... (in order to come up with this review).  If you have read my previous make up foundation reviews, you will know that I love matte finish (for foundation and powder).  What I love about this Dream Focus foundation it's demi-matte, weightless but it has a wonderful coverage.

It's also buildable, it does not cake.  I also tried applying it on top of the BLK Daydream life proof foundation since it kinda dewy to mattify it a bit - promise it worked!

Blendable?  Yes, it is.  As I have said on my previous blog entries, I don't use brush or sponge in applying my foundation.  I am more comfortable using my fingers, because I find it easier to blend.

Another plus for this foundation is - it's long lasting.  I am not a fan of retouching that's why this works for me. (*wink)

Packaging and price:  It comes in a easy pump glass bottle and costs P395.00.  Very affordable...
